Benchmarking Africa’s Foremost Building Solutions Provider – Lafarge Africa
A global building solutions group with an African subsidiary identified the need to adopt a more sustainable approach to business, and it looked to CSR-in-Action as its trusted partner.
What we did
We conducted an initial benchmark exercise to determine company’s position both within its industry, and in the Nigerian economic landscape. Building on the foundation of our findings, we were able to:
- design a sustainability manual with relevant initiatives in line with the group’s global 2030 plan and the Nigerian outlook for the future and its stakeholders’ needs
- design monitoring evaluation, as well as impact assessment frameworks to identify needs and measure progress of activities in host communities
- script the company’s first GRI sustainability report complete with AA1000 Assurance showcasing Lafarge Africa’s economic, social and environmental performance
- build capacity within the organisation for both stakeholder engagement and sustainability reporting
Outcome
The company is equipped to translate its global strategy into valuable initiatives in the local environment.
Furthermore, it became the first in its industry to prepare a Nigeria focussed sustainability report in line with the GRI standard, whilst enjoying increased support from the leadership team on sustainability as an invaluable strategy for business success.
