We are excited to announce that voting for the CAHR Africa Awards 2024 is officially opened!
The Community and Human Rights (CAHR) Awards Africa, established in 2019 by CSR-in-Action Advocacy, in collaboration with the Ford Foundation and Zenera Consulting, honors individuals and organizations that contribute to national development, social justice, and community engagement across Africa. This platform recognizes human rights champions who work tirelessly to promote equality, protect fundamental rights, and foster sustainable development. Nominations span various fields such as environmental protection, gender equality, and community development, appreciating the diverse efforts that uplift and transform African communities.
For the 2024 Community and Human Rights (CAHR) Africa Awards, 425 individuals were nominated across various categories. The nominations were guided by key criteria including eligibility, which required nominees to be individuals, organisations, or initiatives operating within Africa, and demonstrated contributions, which needed to be significant and verifiable in areas of community development, corporate accountability, and human rights. Additionally, nominees had to fit appropriately within the specified category according to their work and impact, with clear evidence of the impact provided through documentation and proof of positive outcomes based on the submission. The sustainability of the nominee’s efforts, showcasing long-term commitment to human rights and community development, was also crucial. Innovation was highly valued, particularly for creative and unique approaches to addressing community and human rights issues, while community engagement, involving active and inclusive participation with the community, including effective grievance management and inclusive practices, was a key consideration.
After a thorough screening process, the proof of work for each nominee was carefully reviewed. As a result, 24 outstanding nominees were shortlisted for the final voting process.
By voting in the CAHR Africa Awards, you will help recognise the extraordinary efforts of individuals and organisations driving positive change in communities across Africa. The voting Period runs from Thursday, August 22 – Thursday, September 5, 2024
