The 8th Civil Society Organisation Professionalism, Effectiveness and Therapy (C-CPET) workshop organised by CSR-in-Action in partnership with Access Bank, held on Tuesday, 6 November 2018, at Access Bank’s Head Office Victoria Island, Lagos. The workshop themed: ‘Organising a Successful Digital Fund Raising was aimed at equipping non-profits and civil society organisations with knowledge of effectively utilisation of the digital media platform to raise funds to promote their various causes.
The workshop featured about 40 participants from different civil society and non-profit organisations. Adejuwon Saheed, Chief Operating Officer of BuzzDigital a foremost digital media firm specialising in digital marketing and communications and three-time future awards nominee facilitated the training.
The training which is part of a series of workshop held biannually was held during Access Bank’s Sustainability Awareness Week as part of activities to commemorate the Bank’s 10 years of Sustainability. Besides the dual sessions consisting of training, question and answer sessions and practice exercises, the Sustainability Manager of Access Bank, Ms. Omobolanle Victor-Laniyan and the Chief Executive of CSR-in-Action Ms. Bekeme Masade-Olowola were on hand to interact directly with the participants and gauge impact.
Reiterating the Bank’s commitment to sustainability and the rationale for inclusion through the workshop, Ms. Omobolanle Victor-Laniyan said: “Access Bank is not only looking to promote sustainability within its walls, but it’s also building capacity to educate other institutions and individuals alike on the hacks they need to build sustainable businesses.”
Speaking on the training, Ms. Masade-Olowola, Chief Executive of CSR-in-Action, stated that: “There is no denying that the digital media provides a veritable platform for raising funds especially considering the various channels of the platform and its ability to get to far reaching audiences across the world and garner attention in a very short time. Effective utilisation of the platform requires knowledge and skill which is vital for non-profits to achieve their fundraising goals. This guided our decision in conducting training on this theme.”
Anthony Eleme, one of the participants of the training said “I have been attending each series of this training. After the series on Proposal Writing, I became the team lead on proposal writing in my organisation. Ever since, all the other training have positively impacted me and the organisation I work with.”
Training mementos such as bags, notebooks and pens were distributed to participants alongside goody bags containing different items courtesy of Access Bank.
C-PET training has remained free and open to registered CSOs and NGOs in Nigeria. It has witnessed participation from over 400 participants till date on various far-reaching initiatives, with diverse partners from world-class firms, including PwC, Total and Nigerian Breweries.
