Peter Nwoke, a 20-year-old Nigerian, was recently arrested for allegedly blackmailing an appointee of President Muhammadu Buhari – Chief Willie Amadi – with a supposed capturing Chief Amadi topless in a room with 2 naked girls.
In the video, Chief Amadi, a lawyer and Federal Commissioner, Imo State Office of the Public Complaints Commission, is seen appearing to be holding the device with the frontal camera recording himself topless and two nude girls in compromised contortions on a bed behind him.
While Mr Nwoke did admit to committing the crime in court, according to Sahara Reporters news site, there seems to be an issue with his conviction. We perceive Mr Nwoke’s statement to the police to be incoherent. First, he admits to superimposing pictures he got from Chief Amadi’s phone on a sexual video he pulled off the internet. Next, he admits to publishing the “pictures” after Chief Amadi did not yield to his request for more money. How this was done was not included in the statement purportedly made by the police, nor mention of a manipulated picture tally with the video that was circulated, which is a different medium. The circumstances surrounding the sudden arrest and conviction of Mr Nwoke is rather suspicious considering that there is no proof that Mr Nwoke possesses the capacity for such high-tech multimedia manipulation.
It is in light of this that we ask Nigerians to support this petition requesting that a proper investigation be conducted into the matter. If the video was truly doctored, then the culprit should be made to face the full wrath of the law. Also, a full investigation ought to be instituted into the conduct of Chief Amadi which is an affront to the office that he occupies. The Public Complaints Commission is empowered by the Federal Government of Nigeria, to receive and treat complaints of administrative injustice from any person in Nigeria, and a leader of such a commission cannot be seen engaging in such an immoral act in what appears to be his office, with the Nigerian flag and his honourable legal wig as spectators.
Dear Nigerians, we need 10,000 signatures in order to authoritatively request an investigation of Barrl. Amadi’s conduct by the Federal Government, the Human Rights Commission and the Imo State Government. Sign petition here
