The Global AI Council is thrilled to announce its expansion into Nigeria and across Africa, marking a significant milestone in its mission to harness artificial intelligence for social good. This strategic move is designed to foster innovation, drive sustainable development, and address pressing societal challenges through AI-driven solutions.
As part of this initiative, the Council has appointed key leaders in the region, including Freda Anyanwu as the Country Director for Nigeria. With her vast experience in community building and a deep understanding of the African landscape, Freda is poised to lead the charge in implementing the Council’s initiatives across Nigeria. Her efforts will be complemented by the advisory support of Miranda Naiman from Tanzania and Bekeme Masade-Olowola, CEO of CSR-in-Action, who is now also a member of the Advisory Board for Africa.
The Global AI Council’s initiatives in Africa will focus on a range of impactful projects, including AI literacy programs, partnerships with local governments and organisations, and the development of AI solutions tailored to address the unique challenges faced by African communities. These efforts will be supported by CSR-in-Action, which will provide advisory and publicity support to amplify the Council’s message and engage stakeholders across the continent.
“We are excited to collaborate with such a dynamic group of leaders and organisations in Africa,” said Kate Hancock, Founder of the Global AI Council. “Our goal is to ensure that AI is leveraged for the benefit of all, and Africa presents a unique opportunity to demonstrate the transformative power of this technology.”
The Global AI Council’s expansion into Africa is a testament to its commitment to inclusivity and global outreach. By working closely with local partners, the Council aims to build a sustainable ecosystem that empowers individuals and communities to harness the benefits of AI.
