CSR-in-Action Submits Bi-Annual Report to UNGC

The United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) is the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative, with over 20,000 participants across 167 countries. It encourages businesses worldwide to adopt sustainable and socially responsible policies, and to report on their implementation. The UNGC is based on Ten Principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment, and anti-corruption. These principles are derived from key UN declarations and conventions, such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Rio Declaration on Environment and Development.

The UN Global Compact enjoys the support of the United Nations General Assembly and has additionally been recognized in a number of other inter-governmental contexts, including the G8.

CSR-in-Action Advocacy, which is part of a larger group that includes CSR-in-Action Consulting,  signed on to the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) in 2010.

It is a leading management advisory firm for corporate sustainability, and the College of Sustainable Citizenship, which focuses on training and capacity building. It is committed to driving development, fostering corporate sustainability, and advancing collective social consciousness in line with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

As part of CSR-in-Action sustainability activities, it successfully submitted yet another biennial Communication on Engagement (CoE) report to the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) website. As a signatory to the UNGC since 2010 and a part of the CSR-in-Action Group since 2015, we have consistently upheld our commitment to global sustainability and the UNGC’s Ten Principles.

Over the years, the organisation has spearheaded several initiatives, such as the Sustainability in the Extractive Industries (SITEI) Initiative, The Good Citizen Radio Show, and the Community and Human Rights Awards Africa, all aimed at promoting good governance, responsible business practices, and community engagement. These initiatives continue to highlight corporate citizenship and the need for sustainable development across Africa.

As the first Nigerian private sector member of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), and a Global Reporting Initiative Certified Training Partner, CSR-in-Action remains dedicated to collaborating with businesses and governments to create sustainable shared value.

The Chief Executive of CSR-in-Action, Bekeme Masade-Olowola, stated: “Our commitment to creating a more sustainable and socially responsible world is unwavering.  We are grateful for a platform such as the UNGC, which helps us achieve our objective on a larger scale.
