CSR-in-Action’s Chief Executive and board room maven, Bekeme Masade-Olowola, through our College of Sustainable Citizenship, anchored a 5-day workshop, held in February 2024, for NNPC Upstream Investment Management Services (NUIMS) Sustainability Champions on awareness around the sustainability reporting, covering the GRI Standards, IFRS and other sustainability reporting frameworks.
As the only GRI Certified Training Partner in Nigeria and Global Certified Partner as well as the pioneer sustainability-focused consulting firm in Nigeria, we were the best fit to deliver on the mandate to introduce participants to the concept of sustainability and sustainability reporting, to the delight of the diverse teams of circa 200 champions; with 92.6% rating the output very highly and 100% alluding to the proficiency of our Chief Executive.
The Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) has the potential to catalyse sustainability leadership and with the NNPC being an apex institution within the petroleum industry, it is encouraging to see NNPC take and foster leadership in the oil and gas and hydrocarbon ecosystem.
Participants were particularly excited about the learning outcomes which helped them marry everyday operations and activities with the notion of sustainability – a word which is often regarded as obscure.
