Access Bank Wins SERAS Award

Access Bank Plc has announced that it recently won the ‘Most Responsible Business in Africa’ and three other awards at the 12th edition of the Sustainability, Enterprise and Responsibility Awards (SERAS) held in Lagos.

The SERAS CSR awards is an annual event aimed at recognising and celebrating organisations for investing resources in the improvement of lives and the environment they serve through several innovative program and initiatives.

Other awards won by the bank included ‘Best Partnership for Development; Best Corporate Communication Team and Sustainability Practitioner of the Year – received by Omobolanle Victor-Laniyan, Group Head, Sustainability at Access Bank.

According to a statement, the award ceremony attracted several dignitaries, business executives and several other sustainability professionals across the continent.

Specifically, a total of 26 awards were presented to several corporate organisations and individuals in recognition of their efforts toward practicing sustainable business principles and embedding concern for the environment into their business consideration.

Speaking at the event, the Executive Director, Personal Banking, Access Bank, Victor Etuokwu said: “We believe that a sustainable business is a more successful business, hence we have made sustainability the bedrock of all our business operations over the last ten years.

“These awards represent a recognition of what we have done and point to the things that lie ahead. We are truly grateful to God and the organisers, and we are inspired by this opportunity.”

Since 2008, Access Bank has shown unwavering commitment to sustainability, winning several awards in recognition of its hard work.

 

African Cleanup Awards 2018

Access Bank Plc has bagged the award for Best Environmental Sustainable Institution in Africa at the African Cleanup Awards 2018. This award category is given to institutions that have affected the environment positively and contributed greatly to the wellbeing of African citizens; demonstrating commitment to environmental stewardship.

Receiving this award is a testament of Access Bank’s continuous leadership in Sustainability. The award is being received shortly after the Bank won the Karlsruhe Award for Outstanding Business Sustainability (3rd time consecutive winner), Euromoney Award for Africa’s Best Bank for Corporate Social Responsibility, and all categories of the pioneering CBN Awards.

The African Clean-up Award for Excellence is Africa’s first ever-independent award that recognises outstanding and brilliant Environmentalists, Health and Safety Experts and Philanthropists that are passionate about Environmental Sustainability in Africa. It is organised in conjunction with the African Clean-up Conference that is powered by the African Clean Up Initiative. The Awards, which are made up of 10 categories, are of great significance and as such, demand accurate measurement. Individuals nominated for an award are selected based on merit, credibility, and impact.

The Award was presented to Access Bank at the 2018 African Cleanup Conference and Awards held in Lome, Capital City of Togo. The event was themed “The Business of Environmental Sustainability”, converging civic leaders, nation builders, environmentalist, government agencies and officials across Africa. The event created a platform to share ideas, knowledge and proffer solutions to issues on sanitation, climate change, recycling and waste management, as well as deliberate on environmental issues confronting member countries.

The African Clean-up Conference is aims to help participants promote their products and services, while also proffering action plans towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals’ 2030 relating to Sanitation, Waste Management, Climate change and Recycling. The 3rd edition of the Conference was put together by the African Cleanup Initiative (ACI) in partnership with JVE International.
