9mobile Gains Second Highest On ‘Top 50 Brands Nigeria’ Ranking

Telecommunication company, 9mobile has emerged one of the highest year-on-year gainers on the list of ‘Top 50 Brands Nigeria’ 2018 ranking.

According to the ‘Top 50 Brands Nigeria’ 2018 report, also codenamed #IAMBRANDNIGERIA, which was unveiled in Lagos on Sunday, November 25, the telco moved 12 spots up this year, a significant leap from the position it occupied in 2017.

The report also stated that 9mobile was ranked among the top 50 brands for its innovation, customer-centricity, youth empowerment and impactful Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

9mobile shone brightly at the gala night where the top 50 brands were honoured and presented with plaques in recognition of their outstanding performance. The ranking and prize presentation ceremony were organised by Brand Nigeria, an authoritative publication of Ladybird Limited.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Editor in Chief of Brand Nigeria, Taiwo Oluboyede, said, “9mobile is also a socially responsible brand, and its CSR is based on platforms of Education, Health and the Environment. Some of these are the 9mobile Telecommunications Engineering Postgraduate Programme (9TEPP), which is the first taught master’s programme in West Africa. It is being run in partnership with Plymouth University, UK, and Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria,” he said.

Oluboyede added that the brand gives perfect expression to one of the most robust characteristics of the Nigerian brand – tenacity; as it has been able to successfully navigate a turbulent situation and turn its lemon into lemonade.

He affirmed, “The brand’s products include solutions that focus on and promote digital and financial inclusion such as micro-credit scheme that provides a quick loan service to subscribers and 9pay, a mobile payment system which enables its customers to make financial transactions, including sending and receiving money, paying utility bills, school fees, wages, topping up airtime and much more.”
