APM Terminals operates one of the world’s most comprehensive port networks. They are uniquely positioned with operations in 75 port and terminal facilities in 42 countries on five continents, with new port projects in development, as well as over 100 Inland Services operations providing container transportation, management, maintenance and repair in 38 countries, for an overall global presence of 58 countries.

They have a team of more than 20,000 industry professionals focused on delivering the operational excellence and solutions businesses require to reach their potential. In 2019 infact, their terminal revenues grew to USD 3.2 billion.

As an organisation, they are fully committed to achieving decarbonisation in their operations and efforts are being intensified while they integrate sustainability even further into business strategy with a goal of having ‘net-zero emission vessels’ by 2030.

Governance

Governance of sustainability in Maersk is overall anchored with the Board of Directors (Transformation and Innovation Committee) and the Executive Leadership Team. They have a two-tier management structure consisting of the Board of Directors and the Executive Board that does not overlap.

2020 Highlights

APM’s capabilities and alliances aided people, nations, and regions in their battle against the pandemic. In addition, the organization supported a World Economic Forum charter in favor of global COVID-19 vaccine delivery that is both secure and sustainable. They are actively involved in creating a global strategy for vaccine delivery, with large-scale distribution planned to begin in the summer of 2020, including the formation of a global logistics alliance with COVAXX to deliver up to a billion doses of the COVAXX vaccine globally in 2021.
