Emeka: Hi guys and hope you had a fantastic week, your one and only Mummy G. O, Bekeme Olowola sends you big greetings today. My name is Emeka Aaron, your one and only celebrity show host, and I’m excited to be here again on the Good Citizen Radio Show, which is brought to you by CSR-in-Action and proudly sponsored by Act Foundation. So we have a very big announcement to make today, but that will be after we come back from this commercial break. Don’t go anywhere, the show continues.
So, like I said before we went on the break, we have a very, very important announcement to make today. Wow. Now, I dunno how to say this, but we just have to say it right. So I have with me here in the studio. Let me not let the cut out of the bag just yet. So today we felt, I’m very sad to say this. Today we are having our last transmission for the show, the Good Citizen Radio Show. It’s coming to an end today, so I said it. Yes. The cat is out of the bag. Now without said it, we want to take a a moment to thank all our loyal listeners who’s been listening to us each and every week, and also supporting us all through our run on the show. It’s been an incredible journey and we could not have done it without all your support.
And we thank you very much. We appreciate you each and every time that you call on the show every week from your busy schedules and time, you know, trying to support the show and also air your opinions, your views about what you think on the topic being discussed on the show. Thank you very much. We really appreciate each and every one of you. So today, I your celebrity show host and also the Good Radio show team will be highlighting the moments that were most impactful and memorable on the show. And with me and the studio today, I have my co-host Chioma. We’ve been fighting all along today, coming to the studio because we were thinking about how we’re going to break this news to everyone today. And Chioma said, you have to be the one to say it. You know, you are the one who is always doing this thing.
So Chioma is on the studio with me today, and of course our, our listeners are also with me today, I believe too, and I know it’s sad, but let’s not be too sad about it. Don’t worry. So we’re going to be speaking about the memorable moments today on the show. So Chioma what legacy do you think the show has put behind so far?
Chioma: Well, the show, the show has really been awesome. There have been very great runs. Highly educative. We have had a lot of different people from various sectors. We had one great person, Labake Lagos
Emeka: Yeah, that’s my favorite, that’s my favorite episode,
Chioma: Talking about fashion for sustainability. We really didn’t know that there was so much waste in the textile industry. You know, we also had SustyVibes
Emeka: Yeah, SustyVibes and we have a party next two weeks, right?
Chioma: Yeah. We have a party. We’re going to be there. You know, so the legacy of the show, basically, we’re happy that it’s been an avenue where people can learn. Yeah. People can also add their views. People can speak up, during the election series, people were able to talk, people were able to speak about what they thought Nigeria, and we should go on what we should do. We also heard that series about “Is love enough?”
Emeka: So I was trying to dodge that topic, but well no problem.
Chioma: Is love enough. Somebody told me she was shaking that day. But yeah, it’s been a learning process that I hope that it has impacted on people’s lives that, it has enlightened people of what a good citizen should be. Yeah. It has also opened the mindset of different areas that people can also go into businesses because, uh, we also had someone from digital that is Mr. Mike. So he came and spoke about the digital aspect of it. We also had that lady from Cameroon all the way doing great things in tech, you know, especially empowering girls in tech.
Emeka: Mr. Asika from HP
Chioma: Exactly. So we had a lot of great people come speak to us. So the legacies that we’ve been impacting life given knowledge, and I know it’s been, it’s been awesome. So that’s our legacy. And well, you can find us still on the goodcitizen.ng. You can continue to follow us and also check us on our website as well.
Emeka: And I think the election series was also a very, very impactful series that we run on the show, you know, because I remember, um, a couple of things that we talked about on the show when we had the different, how I call it now, supporters of the different political parties come on the show. And you know, they talked about a lot of things and the passion that they spoke about the, the topic that day was one thing that resonated so much with me because it kind of like brought out a lot of things that we were not seeing, you know, from people how patriotic that we can be when we believe in something, you know? And that’s something that I’m really very happy, that I’m grateful that I’m also part of, you know?
Chioma: And we also showed that one way or the other, we all Nigerians. We want Nigeria to be better
Emeka: Yes, irrespective of our differences at the back of our minds, you know, we are still, and you know, I think we should be playing more football tournament in Nigeria because that’s the only time you get to see every Nigerian. Everybody’s supporting one term. When they score like this go, everybody’s jumping into the neighbors houses, know, hugging our neighbors and all that stuff. Because I heard that they’re renovating the National Stadium. Yeah. Just hope that we’re going to have something come out of that so that we would have a lot of competitions that will help to bring, to stabilize the country a little bit because yeah. It’s been a little bit too hot so far. Wow. Okay. So what’s, what will you miss the most about?
I’m asking myself this question now. What will I miss so much about hosting the show? Well, I enjoy the fact that every Friday that I come here, my producer is always in the studio. So shout out to my producer, Captain Smart in the studio. Yeah. Big shout out, shout out. Thank you very much. It’s always there to make sure that the show goes smooth. And he’s always, always there to help us whenever we have anything to set out. Thank you very much, Captain Smart, thank you. And also the lovely guest that I’ve had on the show and also being able to be the judge, this is the only place I can actually ask any question to anybody that I want to and you can’t do me anything, you know, and they have to answer. Yes. You have to answer. You know, I think that’s kind of like very cool that I can do that. And I like the radio a lot because it gives you this covering because a lot of people hear your voice and they don’t know who you are. Yeah. So it gives you this news that each time I’m on the road and I’m just driving and people are looking at you and they don’t know who you are. So it’s kind of awesome. You know, I got into the studio and I met the production team of inspiration FM, Captain Smart and Nicholas, Thelma and the rest of the team, you know, and you’d be like, wow, this voice behind this whole thing. You know, so those moments were very awesome for me. So we like for our special listeners, that has been, they’ve been on the show for with us all along. If you have anything that’s favorite, my favorite episode on the show that you want to talk to us about, we would like to hear from you. So that you can also give us your own special moments on the show. And you can still call or text us on our numbers, and you can reach us on 0700923923923 or you can send us a message and our phone line on 08173136193, so that we can hear from you your special moment. If you can even say, you even are going to miss my voice, that’s also a special moment. So is there anyone you’d like to thank? I know I have thanked Captain Smart, my producer. Oh, we missed that call. How I wish Mummy G. O can just give us a call because I really love to hear from her today too, so she can also just share her moments too on the show. So we can also just have the special moments together.
Chioma: That will be a collaborator.
Emeka: You know, so Mummy G.O wherever you are, please, if you’re listening to us right now, would like to hear from you and also get your special moment on the show today too. So, is there anyone from you, Chioma? I said mine do say ladies first, but I had to go first. So, is there anyone that you like to thank for their contributions to the success of the show? All the episodes?
Chioma: Well, first things first, we have to thank our sponsors, Act Foundation. Well, they made it possible, by them sponsoring the show. So thank you. Of course, I like to thank Mummy G. O. She’s always pushing me out of my comfort zone, so she put me here
Emeka: And you love it right now
Chioma: Yeah, it’s, it’s cool. I also like to take my team. It’s not just me. Everybody. Rolake, writing the script. Thelma behind the screen
Emeka: Osini
Chioma: Osini my girl. Dare with the design. So yeah, it’s everybody.
Emeka: And my Isaac
Chioma: Isaac coming in with TTSWG. It’s a whole lot of people that made this whole journey success. It’s not one person. So I just want to thank everybody and we won’t be here without the listeners. Special thanks to everyone who liked, Commented, called in. We are just so grateful that you guys enjoy our show and keep a date with us every time. Thank you. Yeah.
Emeka: And you know the one of the thing I really want, how will I say this now? One of the things that, the show have been able to do from my own point of view, it’s, it’s been able to give us that patriotic, I don’t want to use vibe. Before they say I’m Gen Z, I’m not Gen Z, but we’ve been able to achieve that patriotic vibe in Nigerians again, you know?
Chioma: Yeah. You know, basically that’s being the good citizen. Yeah. Being a good citizen is basically the moral standards, promote governance, civil and social. So it’s a consciousness.
Emeka: Thank you. I think that’s the word I was looking for. So I take back the vibe, not the vibe, the consciousness, right. It just showed now that you’re not a Gen Z too.
Chioma: I’m not Gen Z. So he brought out that consciousness and, you know, people willing to learn, relearn, unlearn, and surprised about what they don’t know. So it brought out that consciousness back to people and we need to do better. We want to do better, and are willing to be better.
Emeka: Yeah. Thank you very much for that, that consciousness. You know reinstate, instilling that consciousness and that’s about the Nigeria that we want to have, that we dream to have. And I extremely believe that it’s part of the process what we’re going through right now in the country, right. We look at all the other countries in the Western region and we want to be like them. But if you look at the, the process that they all went through, we’ve not even started. If you look at that, you know? Yeah. World War I, Second World War, and the rest of them will not even go through half of that. Oh, we have a caller. Thank you very much for calling me your name and where you’re calling from.
Caller: Yeah, thank you. My name is Ikenna and I’m in traffic.
Emeka: Oh, I hope you’re not driving right.
Caller: Well, I’m just using hands free
Emeka: Okay. That’s good. That’s a good citizen right there. Thank you very much for calling on the show.
Caller: Thank you. Actually, sad to hear that you guys are, this is your grand final last episode. I have always enjoyed listening to you guys every Friday. Yeah. And I commend the quality of the show and the topic always brought to us, basically instilling patriotism and as the name implies good citizenship. So really, we’re going to miss you guys, but I ended up not hearing the voice of the Mummy G. O herself
Emeka: Ah, oh really?
Caller: You are always saying on behalf of, but I never got to hear her. She was there. All the ones I’ve listened. You’ve always anchor and truly you’ve done well. I’ve enjoyed your topic, like I said, and also in the election. And enjoyed most of the episodes you held during the election, you actually instilled patriotism
Emeka: I’m having tears in my eyes right now
Chioma: So, it’s so lovely to actually hear. Thank you very much sir
Emeka: Thank you very much. Really appreciate this call, sir. Thank you very much. Thank you. Wow.
Chioma: See, that’s the legacy right there.
Emeka: You know, I was just, I was just telling you about the election series because there was a guy that called on the show one time and he said he had, his polling unit was in Mushin and he was staying at Amodofin, so he had to go to Mushin sleepover there to be able to cast his votes the next day. Yeah. That’s a good citizen. Wow. So, I think with that we just go for a commercial break, so we don’t get to be too emotional about this today, right? Yeah. So we’ll go on a show commercial break and we’ll come back real quick. The show continues, the Good Citizen show
Okay. We are back on the show. We went for that commercial break because Chioma was about to cry in the studio. Okay. Thank you very much. And we’re still waiting to hear from other callers that would like to share their thoughts on the show and how the show has been able to impact them so far. We’re still in the studio, right. Still talking about special moments in the show, right? Still talking about special moments in the show. You know I’m still going to give a shout out to Labake Lagos and also Sonia SustyVibes because one of the thing that I got from them that young people doing good stuff. Yeah. Because lately it just feels like all the bad things that happen in the country is associated to young people. Yeah. So it feels very good, seeing young people do creative stuff, innovative stuff, and things that can impact even the environment and also the country at large. Yeah. You know, so shout out to all the young people who are doing great stuff out there and trying to make the best use of their time. Also to give back to the community and towards the betterment of our country Nigeria. So for you Chioma, what hat are you going to miss today? I know we’re still here. We’re still going to be doing our cat and dog fights.
Chioma: Well, let me see. What am I going to miss? Oh, well, going to miss every Friday knowing that I have opportunity to be on the radio.
Emeka: Yeah. And also the drive home.
Chioma: Yeah. So it’s good. I’m going to miss it. I’m not really much of an outspoken person, but you know, there are sometimes, you know, like you said, you are behind the scenes, the opportunity to talk, give you opinions and you actually impacting lives. So it’s actually an awesome, it’s awesome feeling. I miss that.
Emeka: Wow. Okay. So I think the curtains are beginning to draw clothes together. Well, we thank you once again a big, big thank you to sponsors the Act Foundation for being with us all through this journey. We’re very grateful for the support. We thank the Inspiration FM team also for giving us also the platform to be able to do this. And also to reach out to millions of millions and millions of Nigerians to be able to also push the message of good governance for autism and also be able to bring back that ‘Nigerianism’ into each and every one of us. Thank you very much for this great opportunity. And as we always say, it’s been a lovely time on this show. My name Emeka Aaron, your celebrity show host, and as we bring this chapter to a close, we want to remind each and every one of our listeners, that is not the end of our journey. So while we will still say goodbye today?
