Bekeme: Wow. Like you all did it. wow.

Dami Cruz: Surprises upon surprises

Bekeme: Absolutely.

Dami Cruz: And its a food day

Bekeme: My best word

(Dami Cruz and Bekeme laughs)

Dami Cruz: Andyou look absolutely stunning today B’MO

Bekeme: Awnwn. Thank you

Dami Cruz: If you want to see how she is looking, go to our Instagram Live. (Bekeme laughs) Looking @goodcitizenng. You will see how large, how good-looking, in her pink and black ad white attire

Bekeme: African crest. Always African

Dami Cruz: We represent ourselves very much so

Bekeme: Absolutely

Dami Cruz: And so it’s a very big privilege to be able to actually work with B’MO every day, you know?

Bekeme: Awwn. Thank you.

Dami Cruz: For the past, I think we’re positive five years now.

Bekeme: Five years (Dami and Bekeme laughs) Begging me, crazy joy. Please do this for me. (Dami and Bekeme laughs) My eyes are always driving. You know Dami, I’m sorry to cut you short

Dami Cruz: Yea

Bekeme: I just remember as he’s begging me, I just remembered when I was accepted into The Apprentice Africa, the show. And the girl called me and she’s like, is this Bekeme? Lisa was her name. Is her name. “Is this Bekeme” “ Yes”. “You’ve just been accepted into The Apprentuce Africa. Yea!”
I was like, oh, thank you.
Obed David: I already knew it

(Dami and Bekeme laughs)

Bekeme: She was like,”Are you not excited?” She was so disappointed. I’m just always like on a stable wavelength, you know? No dude. No crazy highs. No lows. I am just there. So I’m very happy. (Dami ad Bekeme) I’m very happy. But, you will hardly find the tears. So, just saying (Laughs)

Dami: Not everyone has to cry, but emotions are difficult

(Bekeme and Dami laughs)

So if you would like to call in and wish B’MO a lovely happy birthday, please you can do so. Called 0700-923-923-923 Or you can send us a WhatsApp message on 0817-61 or 313-6193 .0817-313-6193.

If you have any questions for her, be it personal or maybe an advice that you would like to ask, please, by all means. This is special for today’s show

Bekeme: I’m now very wise.

Dami: It is our “Ask Mummy G. O” “Ask B’MO” show today

Bekeme: Old enough to answer those questions. Your most pressing questions. I have plenty of experience. It’s a new decade. I’m ready to go

Dami: Ready to fly it all away

Bekeme: Absolutely

Dami: So basically now, so we can now start asking some very quick, very, very interesting questions.
We didn’t want you to prepare for this because we wanted this to be very spontaneous.

Bekeme: Oh dear

Dami: So just ask some random questions, let’s see how, some of them may be personal, Some of them are just life, general questions per se. So one of the first one would ask is, like you know, How do you deal with any annoying relatives and work colleagues who you just can’t help or see every day?

Bekeme: So so I think that with work colleagues, you can actually help it

(Dami and Bekeme laughs)

I mean, because they’re colleagues, like you can decide that you know what, this relationship is not working anymore and you both amicably call the relationship quit. Serve each other, breakfast,, and all of that, and keep it.

(Dami and Bekeme laughs)

As long as that person is so annoying that you can’t actually deal with it. Like once you consider a person annoying and you know you have to work with it. Well, I guess I’m speaking as an employer. But as a colleague, like if I had a job, how do I deal with such a person?

Dami: Hmm

Bekeme: I think I deal with such a person the way that, I would deal with most situations in my life. Like so, for example, I always say that if I got a job that was very far from the gate and I didn’t have a car, the first thing that comes to mind is, if you’ve(Voice becomes inaudible). How am I going to start trekking 30 minutes in everyday? I’d say, I’ve even been trying to lose weight this Is a great opportunity to lose weight. (Laughs) So that’s how it is.

Dami: I know right

Bekeme: I stopped seeing the annoying bits in that person if I had to deal with them. I stopped letting them annoying me. Youknow what they say about taking offense? I refuse to take that offense from them.

Dami: Hmm hmm

Bekeme: You know the power is mine to see them as annoying, like ’cause that person that you called annoying is actually desirable to somebody else

Dami: I know right

Bekeme: So I actually see, I start seeing that desirable part of them. Now, if it’s relative, because we are all adults now too then obviously I can actually avoid them. I always say that, oh God I always look for a (voice become inaudible) ethic too leaving. I don’t have to deal with that every day.
And I said earlier, I’m always like on this level

Dami: Hmm hmm

Bekeme: So, I don’t ever want people like bringing it down to being unhappy. Iprotect my mental space very very, uhm, carefully. It’s a choice, and I take the choice to be happy every day.

Dami: Hmmm. That is just very straightforward really. Like you are responsible for how you react to any situation.

Bekeme: Absolutely

Dami: So you can control your reactions. You might not necessarily control what is being done to you, but you can definitely control your reactions, which is a level of emotional intelligence where B’MO would most likely rank over 100 / 100. You know what it is.

(Bekeme and Dami laughs)

So, but do you think it is possible to live without fear?

Bekeme: Without fear, totally without fear, possibly not. But you can manage your fear. I always say that I go into things afraid. I never want fear to be the reason why I don’t do things. I never want to look back on my life. I think, oh wow, if I hadn’t been scared then. I would have done this. I don’t think that I have that as an excuse for anything. Most of the things that I’ve done I’ve been scared about. I’m not necessarily outgoing, I’m not a necessary a people person. I just love to be there for people. I like to impact people and because I know that I have this calling to, you know, fight for inequality, inclusion for people then along the way. I had to shed whatever I fear that I may have.

Dami: Hmmm

Bekeme: So you cannot be entirely fearless, but you know how motivational speakers tell us, do it afraid

Dami: (laughs)

Bekeme: Do it afraid. Honestly, do it afraid. The worst thing is that you fail at it. World standard of.
But that’s not failure. You would have learned something from that process

Dami: (Cuts in) Definitely

Bekeme: From that journey that you will used to start something else

Dami: Hmm hmm

Bekeme: It’s possible to be fearless in your pursuit

Dami: Yeah

Bekeme: But you know you may not be entirely without fear.

Dami: You know I think that I mean, also to buttress that I think that’s very, very much true, and you don’t want to enter that situation, I think there’s one popular, there is one popular, I think a meme yeah, where you see a monkey trying to challenge a lion. I’m like, which motivational speakers

(Bekeme and Dami laughs)

Bekeme: (Cuts in)Bros, you wey never chop anything

Dami: Yeah, actually what you are most likely not ready. As much as you feel like, yes, I can take it and there’s no Fear, I think there’s still a level of calculated risk

Bekeme: absolutely

Dami: As much as you’re afraid, you still have to ensure that you take those calculated risk as much as you can

Bekeme: Hmm

Dami: Not that you know, like when it’s even an investment. You know how we do our MMM you know, however? (Laughs)

Bekeme: Not that type of risk. (Bekeme and Dami laughs) Not that type of risk.

Dami: I mean, which will bring me to investment. What would you if you had, let’s say? 100 million, what would you do with it?

(Bekeme and Dami laughs)

Bekeme: Somebody else wants to answer these questions, so I’m going to let him. (Bekeme and Dami laughs). No,answer the the question, if you had 100 Million what would you do with it

Obed David: OK, so. I’m a spiritual person. I don’t like to use the word religious

Bekeme: OK

Obed David: And so I understand the place of tithing

Bekeme: Hmm

Obed David: So that that would be priority and then I’m going to spoil my mom.(Dami and Bekeme laughs). Spoil that baby. I think, 100 million, huh?

Bekeme: Yes

Obed David: I’ll give my siblings, let’s say 5, N5 million to each of them

Bekeme: Hmm

Obed David: So there are four of them. OK, and then I am definitely going to be real estate.

Bekeme: Yes

Obed David: Money that is not planted will finish

Bekeme: Yes

Obed David: I’m going to take time and spoil me. (Dami and Bekeme laughs). I gotta love on me. (Bekeme laughs) Yeah, yeah. I’ve got to love on me. You know, and because it’s your birthday right now,

Bekeme: (Cuts in) You will love me too

Obed David: (Voice becomes inaudible) I’m just going to do you a million naira. (Dami and Bekeme laughs).

Bekeme: I’m noot sure about that. This is just an 100 million. Because you’re talking about real estate.
How much is real estate, now?

Obed David: Now even if a, gonna pop in 50 million into real estate?

Bekeme: Hmm hmm

Obed David: OK?

Bekeme: What do you think it do for you?

Obed David: So the one thing I’m keen about when it comes to business is I’m not keen on big, on rapid

Bekeme: (Cuts in)Growth like returns.

Obed David: No, no. Longivity

Bekeme: Hmm hmm

Obed David: And Lagos doesn’t have to be my target.
Bekeme: Absolutely

Obed David: You get?

Bekeme: right.

Obed David: Yeah, so it could be Ibadan, it could be anywhere else that don’t have excellence in apartments

Bekeme: Yes

Obed David: Go in and give it to them, you know, for a good price.

Bekeme: Yes, correct.

Obed David: I’m gonna have to deal with the drama of getting a fine house and get flooded

Bekeme: Yes

Obed David: I’m not not calling any place, you know

(Dami Chukles)

Bekeme: Yeah

Obed David: Then I will do a little of argriculture. I have a plug for, too much talk for radio anyway. But a little agriculture. So in all of it, I know that I’m going to buy me a car

Bekeme: Ah! This 100 million. It’s about to finish.

Obed David: If we want to do a calculatio of it. I’m giving 5,5 million to my silblings

Bekeme: Hmm hmm

Obed David: That’s 20 million

Dami: Yea. That is 20 million

Obed David: OK. I’m doing my mom. 10 million

Bekeme: Hmm hmm

Obed David: My dad, 5,000,000. He’s a big boy.

Bekeme: Yeah. So 65

Obed David: 65 is left. Good. And I say I’m putting down 50 million. Okay, so, I take out my tithe of let’s say

Dami: That’ 10 million

Bekeme: That tithe would have come from the 100 million.

Obed David: That’s what we are saying. I’m taking oout 10 million. That’s 55. So I will slash my siblings money (Dami, Bekeme and Obed laughs). Straight off. For me, straight off. (Dami, Bekeme and Obed laughs)

Bekeme: Becaause, at the end of the day, itt’s not a money to play around with. It just seems like, uh, like 100, like, oh, I’m gonna do this. I’m gonna do that.

Dami: Yeah, yeah, It just happens like that I think. So one lady advice, you know what? What has been the trend is that people who actually win lotteries in the US in under maybe five years, they will won have a huge chunk of money, And in fact that they aare broke

Bekeme: Yeah

Dami: literally dead broke

Bekeme: I know someone, Who won a billion in this Nigeria. A billion. I know of someone like. I don’t know him personally, but I know for sure that he won a billion naira and within a year, 18 months he was broke again.

Dami: Ah

Bekeme: Yeah. Absolutely. So he’d been gambling and he won from gambling, and he thought that he could multiply it in that way. So he bought houses and then he sold everything again, pour it back into gambling and he is back to zero. That’s the typical case of they dey follow am from village, no other explanation for that. A billion naira.

Dami: What?

Bekeme: A billion Naira

Dami: Yeah, that’s just show that your mental capacity to handle, to handle money, like you mentioned, you know, you mentioned you didn’t want to be spiritual, but the same time being religious, is the same thing with you know you, you are praying to God, Please,, God, give me 10 million, but you.
Can you handle 10 million?

Bekeme: Can you handle 10 million?

Dami: Somepeople willjust see N10 million ad faint. You know, I think there’s even a skit like that where the pastor would say, you know, pastor, i want to give you this tithe, of you knoe, the church, 20 million. The pastor fainted. Like, ah

Bekeme: yeah.

Dami: Before my Time

Bekeme: Absolutely. So I feel like and I and I say that with all humility. I feel like that’s why.
And by the grace of God, I’m Successful because I have a good capacity for managing money.

Dami: Hmmm

Bekeme: Money doesn’t shake me, no matter how it is, no matter how much money comes in at any time. I don’t sayy, oh yes. So this is wha that mean, for the next whatever. So, what will i do with a 100. Iit’s not a, ok, So what next? You know, kind of thing and but that you would definitely not find me in an MMM situation

Dami: (Laughs)

Bekeme: I’m definitely not find, you definitely not finding any get rich quick scheme because I did not get the money, I would not have gotten the money through that sort of means in the first place.

Dami: Yea

Bekeme: I know, I understand the essence of growing organically and you know for me it’s the typical you know, put it in the savings, or put it in the federal government bonds, and that will be that. And then real estate of course. and to me as he said earlier. Real estate would be you know buying a property and knowing that it’s there not necessarily trying to flip it over quickly or though there is an opportunity for flipping and if my business didn’t take as much time of mine as it does then I’ll probably consider that sort of, you know, flipping over. Build and sell and build and sell because no matter what happens with real estate, at least you have it.

Dami: Hmm hmm

Bekeme: You have it. You’re not putting some your money into something ephemeral that you would say, oh! I had known. What am I going to do? (Dami and Bekeme laughs). Worst case is thatyou will leave in your house.

Dami: Abi

Bekeme: You owe for your hand. but you know, that’s what it is

Dami: Ok. Thank you very much. We will go on a short break right now. From a word from our sponsors and we do not touch that dial. We will be back. And do remember to call 0700-923-923-923, if you would like to wish B’MO a happy birthday and also you know, ask any questions that you would love to ask well. So, one question for you B’MO. Few questions here before we have to round up ’cause time is just going.
So if you were the President of Nigeria

Bekeme: Hmmm

Dami: This one

Bekeme: eh

(Dami and Bekeme laughs)

Dami: If I give you one tenure of four years to manage Nigeria and everything, what things would you do in the office?

Bekeme: Wait. I have a political manisfesto. (Dami and Bekeme laughs) ehn ehn. What things?

Dami: What things would you do now or what have you considered doing if you were going to do any?

Bekeme: Any if I were President of Nigeria, I think, obviously, uhm, one of the first things. And that’s the thing that I have the most problem with. Because it affects everything, is security. Definitely address security in the country. I know that Community security has worked like working with various communities to fight crime and all of that. Is very important that we address these things, genuinely and intentionally. I just don’t feel that the current leadership is doing enough. Like, I don’t think that they’re serious enough and I don’t like that you put me on the spot because I have my political manifesto that I cannot find. (Dami and Bekme laughs). My political maniefesto that I cannit find. But the truth is that either, I think that and I think obviously transportation is key for us. I think that we spend too much of our time looking for money to buy cars that pollute the air that we don’t actually need. It’s not actually priority, but because we don’t have a good road network, many people feel like they have to own a car.

When you really traveled to the Western world, many people, even when they do have class, hardly use cars. Many people have bicycles and that bicycle situation is affected by security, again, ’cause you don’t want to be riding down, and then somebody just relieves you on your bicycle as you’re riding along.

Dami: Hmmm

Bekeme: So obviously security is key. I was recently in Ibadan, on the train. And oh, my goodness! For the 2nd time and it’s one of my best experiences of Nigeria. It just reminds me that good things are possible in Nigeria

Dami: Hmm hmm

Bekeme: I also would address something that’s tie to security that, you know, would also foster that sense of unity and I will come to unity, that we need to have, you know?! Unified Identification system that actually works. I know that different organisations are trying to measure the whole BVN thing. Uhm, what else are they doing? There’s BVN

Dami: There is PVC

Bekeme: Ehn ehn

Dami: There is NIN

Bekeme: You know, but they still have different databases. Unfortunately, so obviously all of these things need to merge together for it to work for us. And this is by no way a means of, you know, looking for people who are not actually Nigerians and chasing them out. But it’s important that we track who’s who.

Dami: Definitely

Bekeme: Because again it links to security. It links to national planning. You cannot plan for people that you know where the number just keeps on bludgeoning and everything

Dami: Hmm hmm

Bekeme: Right? So, finally, we also need to work on our sense of national identity.

Dami: Hmm

Bekeme: I think tha,t you know the work that OBJ tried to give Dr. Akunyili clearly, when she was alive, to just drive that brand, Nigerian, needs to be revisited by somebody who has experience doing that and obviously working with my Parliament at the time. Would be serious (Dami laughs) focus people

Dami: Yeah

Bekeme: We want the best for Nigeria, you know. So it’s basically working together to ensure that we knew that this Nigeria is ours.

Dami: Hmm hmm

Bekeme: You know, it always reminds me of that Sunny Ade song, And this Nigeria be our own (Bekeme sings). So I’m I would obviously focus on driving that sense of ownership, that sense of unity. No matter where you come from in Nigeria, Nigerians belong to you. Your voice will be important. But finally, I’m not trying to be a politician. I’m never going to be a politician. Just saying. Don’t quote me Oh.

Dami: (Laughs)

Bekeme: Just in case, my ministry changes but I’m not trying to be a politician. Thank you so much

Dami: Thank you

Bekeme: Everybody who’s called in, Chief Okoro, Charles, the Inspiration FM team.
Oh my God, I felt so loved. If I was a crier I would have cried but didn’t come out. I tried. (Dami and Bekeme Laughs)

Dami: Thank you so much for your inspiration, it actually been very enlightening, at the same time listening to you and having you, obviously questioning you. And so again. Once again. Happy birthday, B’Mo

And we will see you all again. Time is not on our side, unfortunately. We will see you again next week, Friday by 5:30 PM on Inspiration FM. This show is brought to you by CSR-in-Action and sponsored by the very, very Lovely ACT Foundation.

Do stay tune have a lovely, lovely weekend. I will see you again next week. This is a sign out from me, Dami, and your Mummy G. O. today.

Bekeme: Bye bye.
