Kimberly-Clark is a multinational personal care corporation that produces mostly paper-based consumer products. The brands include Huggies, Kleenex, etc. They have a total of approximately 40,000 employees worldwide and manufacturing operations in 34 countries. Kimberly-Clark has ensured 35% women representation in their management roles globally and have received two 2019 Ethical Corporation Responsible Business Awards for Community Impact and Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Impact. They are members of prestigious sustainability-driven organisations such as Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR), Corporate Eco Forum, Flexible Film Recycling Group (FFRG), Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) amongst others.

Social Impact

The Kimberly-Clark Foundation carries out the social responsibility efforts of the company, with its primary focus on social and community investments that increase access to sanitation, help children thrive and empower women and girls. The Kimberly-Clark Foundation, together with funding from the corporation and our employees, responds to causes and programs with financial contributions, donations of Kimberly-Clark products, and volunteer time.

Some of their initiatives include:

  • Addressing diaper needs around the world through like the National Diaper Bank Network.
  • Alleviating period poverty through product donation and brand-led programs like SheCan.
  • Advocating for access to and promoting water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) access for all.

2020 Highlights

Kimberly-Clark joined the Rainforest Alliance, the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and corporate partners in announcing the launch of the Smallholder Access Program (SAP) in 2019. The firm in its commitment to sustainability also enacted sustainable water-use plans for their mills, four of which have now achieved their sustainable water-use target.

During the COVID-19 virus, the Foundation donated $2.5 million to UNICEF and its programs to help the vulnerable. In addition, the Kimberly-Clark Foundation donated another $2.5 million to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and the American Red Cross, to help prevent the spread of the disease, alleviate human suffering through basic humanitarian aid, and deliver lifesaving health messages amidst this global pandemic.
