Education, Research and Development

As part of its continuous support for education, research and skills development in Nigeria, FMN donated a bus, laboratory equipment and furniture worth over N60 million Naira to Yaba College of Technology during the school’s Annual Lecture/ Exhibition and Fundraising of the School of Technology.

The establishment of the Flour Mills Food Research Centre a few years ago in partnership with the University of Ibadan as a part of their commitment to research and advancing the cause of Food science and technology in Nigeria. They annually pay an endowment of N8million to the University to enhance the performance of the research centre.

The project which was executed under the direct supervision of the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), was developed in partnership with the Care-giver initiative, a Non-Governmental Agency based in Lagos.

Health

In line with the FMN culture, members of staff participated in a road walk within their communities as a sensitization exercise towards educating the public on its prevention and control of HIV/AIDS while discouraging stigmatization and discrimination.

FMN sponsored the Raptors Basketball Academy. This was done to achieve one of its commitments to unlock greatness in the youths and help them reach their full potential. FMN Plc wants to encourage collaborative spirit and leadership skills in Nigeria’s future Leaders.

2020 Highlights

As part of measures to support the fight against the spread of the virus, FMN, through the Nigerian Private Sector Coalition Against Coronavirus (CACOVID), donated the sum of N1 billion to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). Medical supplies worth about $1.5 million were procured in addition to this in partnership with the NDDC.

In the reporting year, the company still went about its community development activities through the following:

  • Renovation of the Food Technology department at the Yaba College of Technology.
  • Commissioning of a Vocational Center for special needs children at the Methodist Primary School in Apap.a
  • A refurbishment project at the Faculty of Dental Services, College of Medicine of the University of Lagos.
  • Donations and charity visits to the less privileged across Lagos, Ibadan and Kano.
  • A donation of N2.25 Million to the Iganmu community towards the installation of 2 security gates and a commitment to contribute N1.2Million annually as contribution for the salaries of 8 security men.
