CSR-in-Action Releases Landmark Corporate Sustainable Investor Report on Nigerian Businesses

Foremost sustainability advocacy and consulting outfit in Africa, CSR-in-Action, in collaboration with local and international partners, is set to release the 2020 edition of the Corporate Sustainable Investor Report (CSIR), a landmark research document that analyses the sustainability progress of companies operating in Nigeria.

A document that presents the sustainability approach of companies in line with Environmental, Social and Governance factors, the 2020 CSIR will be unveiled to the public at a virtual event on Friday, July 30, 2021, at 11: am.

Expected at the event are notable personalities in government, sustainable development and academia. Special guests include Otunba Niyi Adebayo, the honourable Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, who is the chief launcher; Tony Ojukwu, Executive Director, Nigerian Human Rights Commission (NHRC); Dr Orji Ogbonnaya Orji, Executive Secretary, Nigerian Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI); Abiodun Baiyewu, Executive Director, Global Rights Nigeria; and Oscar Onyema, Group Chief Executive Officer, NGX Group Plc.

With a vision to be the one-stop report for analytical and material sustainability data for companies of all sizes in Nigeria, the CSIR is a multi-stakeholder developed report – led by the CSR-in-Action Advocacy, foremost African sustainability advocacy and consulting firm. It takes into primary cognisance, the local business milieu in Nigeria and Africa at large. The first of its kind in the country, the information in the CSIR has been methodically grouped under 6 key performance indices, namely: Human Rights and Decent Labour, Innovation, Ethical Economics, Stakeholder Inclusion, Environmental Sustainability and Sustainability Management.

As sustainability emerges as a core component of business strategy for efficient and dynamic corporate organizations, social investment frameworks like the CSIR have become vital tools for driving sustainable development.

Now in its 4th edition, the 2020 CSIR features 298 organizations in 7 sectors of the Nigerian economy.
