SUMMARY:Collaboration – Organising a Successful Community Outreach

 Founder Lagos Food Bank Initiative\n\n\n\n\nThe theme of the workshop was 
 ‘Collaboration: Organising an Effective Community Outreach’ and feature
 d participants from different civil society organisations and different par
 ts of the country. There were two sessions and two facilitators to anchor e
 ach session.\n\nThe training once again demonstrated Access Bank’s commit
 ment to promoting excellence and professionalism amongst civil society orga
 nisations and ultimately contributing to the socio-economic development of 
 the country.\n\nThe training featured dual sessions. Both sessions were dee
 p and interactive as they were effortlessly delivered by both facilitators 
 who had a depth of knowledge and experience in implementing community outre
 aches. The modules for the training were developed based on careful researc
 h by the facilitators and the CSR-in-Action team on components of effective
  community outreach\, based on globally accepted standards and also factore
 d in the peculiarity of the Nigerian context.\n\nThe first facilitator\, Mr
  Samuel Kayode\, took participants through topics including what community 
 outreach is\, community protocols\, prioritising and mapping community stak
 eholders and designing an effective community outreach – tools\, impact m
 easurement\, etc. The second facilitator\, Mr Michael Sunbola\, espoused ke
 y concepts and ideologies required for forging robust collaboration between
  NGOs and the private and public sectors to ensure that community outreache
 s are successful\, and his topics covered implementing community outreach s
 trategies\, strengthening delivery through effective collaboration and cond
 ucting post outreach evaluation.\n\nBoth facilitators cited real-life examp
 les and experiences accrued from conducting community outreaches all over t
 he country. They also cited case studies of both successful and failed comm
 unity outreaches by different organisations\, pinpointing reasons for the s
 uccess or failure of the outreaches. There was enough room for questions an
 d answers with the facilitators proferring candid and insightful responses 
 to each question. Upon conclusion of the training\, a certificate was given
